The plain summary

HotMegle is built around one mechanic: a private video call between two adults. This page explains what information the service handles when you read a public page, open a match or leave a guest session running. Browsing the public side — the FAQ, the guides on the blog — asks for no account and gathers nothing about you personally.

Camera and microphone

A live call asks your device for two permissions: the camera and the microphone. Both stay under your browser’s control — you switch them on, you switch them off, and the lens never activates before you allow it. A call on HotMegle involves exactly two people: nobody watches from the sidelines, nothing streams you to an audience, and your device never has to install anything.

The technical records a match runs on

Matching strangers live is impossible without routine technical records: basic device and browser information, server logs that carry IP addresses and timestamps, and page traffic measured in aggregate. The guest session itself stores only what keeps it running — how many free matches remain and any coin balance. When you buy coins, an external payment processor handles the transaction, so full card numbers never touch HotMegle; the terms of service cover the same arrangement.

Cookies, in one paragraph

Cookies do three jobs here: they hold your session together while you match, they remember small settings, and they count page visits without attaching a name. A handful are strictly necessary — switch those off and matching simply breaks. The complete list, including how to refuse or delete them, sits in the cookie policy.

Reports and moderation context

When you tap report or block, session context can be attached to a moderation review — that context is the difference between a human moderator acting on abuse and guessing at it. It is also how repeat offenders end up removed from the queue. The rules the team enforces are written down in the community guidelines.

Decisions that stay with you

You decide how much of you exists here: camera on or off, stay or skip, keep the session or clear it. Ending a call takes one tap, and closing the tab ends everything. To have session data corrected or deleted, reach us through the contact page. Personal information is never sold. Full stop.
